Epifanes PP build two-part

Dan,

Thank you for a wonderful site. I am using Epifanes PP for the first time. After 4 coats, I found that due to the brushing and rolling, the surface was not ideally smooth as is would have liked. (I was waiting on the proper size tips for my HVLP)   I re-sanded and leveled the varnish and am ready to add several more coats of PP. I noticed that I can see some subtle sanding marks/swirls in several areas. These are not in the wood, but in the last coat of varnish. Do I need to eliminate these before a add a new coat of varnish, or will the new varnish cover/fill these?

Thanks so much. Thoroughly enjoy your tutorials on the varnish... excellently presented.

Thanks,

Geoff

Hi Geoff

Yes the finish, particularly with PP will get progressively worse as you build coats. A flat back every three coats or so will keep this at bay though. As long as you are building volume though thats the main aim,

You should see all marks disappear as you then continue building coats, providing you aren't sanding any rougher than 180g. A good wipe down with thinners is a good idea to make sure you get dust out of the scratches left by the sanding operation as well.

Glad you are enjoying the videos!
