Epifanes white(s)

Hi. New to Epifanes, Dan Lee and your content, but finding the videos, techniques and the explanations super clear and helpful in making decisions on my boat renovation. I was wondering if there were some examples of the different whites from some previous projects. I find it a challenge to know what a boat will look like from a swatch. I did see the video using Oyster which is nice but a bit creamy for my colour combo - burgundy/red wine canvas, black anti foul,  burgundy and black fenders with cabin sides and topside in white. Currently primed and was looking at other paints but now keen on Epifanes 848 soft/arctic white. I know some say white is white but there are several to choose from. Apparently 848 is similar to Matterhorn. Any other colour suggestions based on experience welcome.

Hi

Yes the subject of whites is a minefield, there are soo many subtle differences and actually pure white is rarely something you want as it is quite dazzling! I quite often use the Epifanes "standard white" which is the 800 number. Examples of this from my projects would be the Stapley deck and the bottom of the Tideway dinghy we restored. Also the boot stripe that I painted on Miss Isle last week and did an Instagram reel on.

Oyster white was a RAL colour that we used for the Healey and that was more of an old English white, quite creamy by comparison and coverage was infinitely better than with the standard 800 white. If I'm doing anything off standard I have a RAL colour chart here and I tend to use that for comparison in varying different light settings to see how it looks. Things change dramatically in the sun vs artificial light.
