Happy almost spring everyone!
What do you guys think is a better filler
1.U-POL Smooth Body Filler
2. TotalBoat Totalfair epoxy fairing compound?
Also, how many coats of epoxy would ya'll recommend on fiberglass and things to avoid when fiber glassing a wooden boat ?
These are two very different products, U-Pol is a polyester filler, solvent based with very little water resistance and due to its makeup, it can shrink back in time. I wouldn't use this for anything other than small, quick cosmetic repairs.
Total fair is an epoxy based product, very water and shrink resistant so this would be my choice for a hull.
The amount of coats depends largely on the application and what's needed for fill depth. Let the data sheet recommendations guide you on this.
