Finishing Teak Veneer
Quote from Louis on 21st February 2025, 2:46 amThe interior of my 1987 Sabre 42 appears to be largely teak veneer, which I like very much even though it is veneer. However, black film coats much of it, causing the wood to lose its glowing appearance. Has anyone else dealt with this? I assume my solution is to sand the wood surface and revarnish it lightly, or should I use a heat gun? I am afraid of damaging the thin teak veneer. I have already tried different cleaning solutions, but I may be missing a cleaning solution. Thank you, I am enjoying Dan's online seminars very much.

When you say black film, what do you mean, it that like black water marking in the wood? Feel free to share some pictures if you can.
