Temptress Build - Singapore
Quote from Michael Bell on 14th March 2023, 12:26 pmThought I would stop hi-jacking others build forum and create my own finally.
I have now completed all of the frame Mahogany, 9mm Ply, 12mm Ply, 18mm Ply and 18mm MDF CNC machining, just the peg board to go. Huge number of parts, but I'm happy to say all seem to fit together very nicely.
I managed to start and get the transom jig put together today, just waiting on one last part before completing the matrix structure. Snug fit with my 18mm MDF, but all went together relatively easily.
Also managed to dry fit the two frames with full 18mm Ply bulkheads as I could do this without the peg board. This covers Frame 4 and Frame 9.
Just putting in an hour here and there, but with the CNC machining done, its relatively quick to dry fit things.
Ignore the screws on Frame 4 as they are just holding things together. Screws on Frame 9 are proper Silicon Bronze Wood screws... ($$$)!
Hoping to get Frame 1 put together tomorrow (dry) and will then be on ice as I'm traveling for a few weeks.

Question: Did you sand the edges of your gussets before assembling the frames? I am trying to decide if I need to purchase a belt/drum sander.

Quote from Michael Bell on 22nd March 2023, 8:28 am@robertkody - No sanding required other than to clean off a few whiskers from the CNC cutting. The only sanding I will likely do on the frames is to rough up the solid wood surfaces that get epoxied to the ply. Its just to clean away any debris and make sure its a clean surface for bonding to.
