Temptress Plan Revisions
Quote from Dan Lee on 27th February 2025, 10:33 amHere is a heads up on the latest proposed revisions to the Temptress plans and parts. If you are building one then keep an eye on this post for updates on pending additions or changes.
Recent additions are:
- MFT frame construction board - the addition of MFT holes for clamping and dog fixtures as well as a reduced size board for a building table.
- CNC strong back - a slot together tenoned strong back. Significantly less efficient material wise but seriously quick and accurate to assemble.
- A new stringer jig – this see's the stringer laminated on an internal jig rather than external, reducing waste and allowing bevels and notches to be marked and cut prior to installation in the boat.
- A new sheer clamp design – this mimic's the layup of the chine flats and allows the entire timber to be formed and shaped off the boat.
To access all of the above, drop me an email to request the files and I can grant you access to the latest download.
Coming soon:
- New side planking schedule - side planking will now be arranged in 3x layers for easier forming of the hull side planking; 4 | 4 | 6mm
- New bottom planking schedule - the bottom can be planked in 3x layers instead of 4 if desired; 8.5 | 8.5 | 8.5mm
- New stem lamination schedule - 4mm laminations should be used, staggered in length to reduce waste in the aft end of the stem.
- A new drawings file – this will contain some updates to recommended lamination thicknesses based on current results as well as some other minor amendments.
- US based kitting outlet - very soon we will have a kitting outlet based in Northern Michigan, this outlet will be able to provide all services from basic kit and hardware supply to 3D, CNC bevelling of all boat components.
- Worldwide hardware availability - we now have an established fabricator for all boat hardware. Hardware items will be available to purchase through Dan Lee Boatbuilding with worldwide shipping.
- Worldwide driveline availability - Ilmor driveline packages are also now available to purchase through Dan Lee Boatbuilding with worldwide shipping.

Quote from Bob Kody on 28th April 2025, 3:41 amHi Dan - I am getting close to planing the bottom of Temptress. Do I understand correctly, that I can do 3-layers of 8.5mm or 5/16" planks, and essentially follow the plans, but skip the 4th layer?
I want to make sure that the direction of the 45 degree angle on the first later does not change. So another way to ask is: Doe I eliminate layer #1 or layer #4?
