Percy Blandford 'Woodwysk'
Quote from bigfishinnet on 3rd August 2026, 7:24 pmGood evening. Currently getting our boat repainted and revarnished. It was built by my partners dad about 45 years ago. They use to use it on the lakes in the lake district. Also been in the sea. Its a Percy Blandford 'Woodwysk'.
Next job is the engine. Currently it's a 2 stroke 40 hp Blue Band Mercury. This works but needs a full service and probably a rebuild to make good.
Looking at something more modern like a 30 hp 4 stroke Tohatsu.Any thoughts on this anyone?
Cheers

The main thing I would say to consider is that modern 4 stroke engines are generally a lot heavier than the older two strokes so keep an eye on the condition of your transom and consider that some reinforcement may be necessary. That being said if you are going from 40 down to 30hp you may be about the same.
