Varnish Failure House door

I finished/hung this door in February.  Client just noticed the finish is bubbling (end of May).  He claims it was not like this, or he did not notice it as of a couple weeks ago. We did just have about 10-12 days are consistent rain, very unusual for ohio. But the door has a 3-4 foot overhang and a screen door with not glass, just screen.  The house faces north east, gets 1-2 hours of sun in the later morning, but nothing severe.  The stain is general finish water base.  It has 7 coats of epifanes high gloss, and two coats of epifanes matte.  The thing that may have caused this, is that I sprayed a coat of de-waxed shellac that was tinted to help make the door color more consistent.  That was applied after the stain, and before the varnish.  Would that be the issue?

I think it's unusual for it to start bubbling months later?  I would think if that was going to happen it would happen soon after finishing?  This is the first issue I've had with varnishing front doors.  The only other time I've seen this was when my father-in-law hung a door too soon, and on a very hot day with direct sunlight, and it bubbled on the bottom of the door where it was catching sunlight.

Any opinions on how to fix, or what could have caused that would be appreciated.

UPDATE*** Also attaching pictures of how the door was previously.  The previous finish was bubbling as well, in some of the same places.  Could it be that someone put some type of "furniture oil" like Pledge or Old English, and any new finish will not adhere because of that?

We did just have 2 weeks of consistent rain. The door does have an overhand and does not get direct weather/sun, but we did have an unusual amount of rain / humidity over the last two weeks.
