West System 209 Extra Slow Hardener
£25.49 – £163.35
An extra slow hardener for use with the West System 105 Epoxy resin. Use in conditions of particularly high working temperatures or when an extended working time is required. Mix with 105 resin at a 3:1 ratio.
Description
The West System 209 Extra Slow Hardener is designed for those who require a longer working time when using epoxy resins. This hardener is specifically formulated to provide ample time to apply the epoxy before it cures. Scenarios such as cold moulding where you may require a long window of time to get planking installed and a vacuum bag setup for example. The West System 209 Extra Slow Hardener is also suited for complex composite layups that may need additional time to be done.
One of the key features of this product is its extra slow curing time. This allows for extended workability, making it perfect for projects that require intricate details or complex designs. Whether you are building a boat, creating custom furniture, or working on fibreglass repairs, this hardener gives you the flexibility you need to achieve precise results at a reduced pace. The West System 209 Extra Slow Hardener is also suited to extremely warm or humid environments where other hardeners may simply set up too quickly.
Recommended Applications
- Bonding and lamination of wood and composite materials
- Filleting, filling and fairing
- Glass sheathing of stable wood surfaces
- Coating and protection of stable wood surfaces
- Cold moulding
Recommended Systems
West System epoxy resin can be used for a wide variety of applications. The range of hardeners and additives mean that the product can be mixed to suit the needs of the user. Below are a few examples of typical systems that I might use where very slow cure times are needed or extreme temperatures are experienced.
Cold moulding | 105 resin and 209 hardener thickened with 406 colloidal silica – 1 pump of resin to 1 scoop of additive will give a product very close to a standard glue consistency. Use for bonding cold moulded planks in a vacuum bag scenario where an increased open time is desired.
