Planking Hull advice
Quote from Dana83 on 22nd February 2026, 7:40 pmHi All,
I’m not sure how to approach this. I’m planking over a plywood Hull with sapele what angle cuts would anyone suggest if they’ve done this before. Please post pictures . This is the Hull of the boat at the Bow and I don’t know what combination of cut I need

You'll be left with the exposed and grain of one side which will be sealed and covered under the cutwater.
Alternatively if you wanted to install a central keel band you may wish to add a small flat onto the stem and let in a timber to mount this to with the planking stopping up to either side of it. Essentially you'll have a small flat section down the stem than that will take a keel band later.
