I'm a total novice when it comes to spray painting, But want to spray all my finishing coats on a Glen L malahini im building (ive used a few of your techniques on it. I'm keen to know what set up you use? I went to go buy a compressor the other day and left with nothing as I was concerned with oil compressors vrs oil free. Keen to understand the set up you use and understand what's going to give me the best finish without spending too much
Thanks Bryce

I would start with selecting a gun, in fact, start with your paint and see what gun it recommends. Likely a gravity fed gun but check nozzle size. Then look at the air flow rate that the gun demands and then look for a compressor with an output that exceeds this. Most spray guns will put quite a large demand on big compressors.
Oil vs oil free really comes down to ongoing maintenance of your compressor and how much you want to spend on it. Air flow rate is the primary thing to consider. I would also recommend getting the biggest size tank you can as this acts like a buffer for the compressor to keep up with what you are doing.

Been doing alot of research and your comments make a lot of sense, especailly picking the gun to suit the paint. I assume in that case you may have multiple guns to differ between products.
Thanks again,
Bryce
