Jebb is a 12ft flat bottomed skiff designed for plywood boat building utilising a process similar to stitch and glue construction methods. For this boat plan I started out with an original design by William Atkin for a traditional skiff. I lofted the boats shape and from there completely re engineered the construction method from the ground up to form a quick to build, lightweight plywood clinker skiff.
The original use of this plan set was to teach a course at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis. We started out with an idea to build a boat, start-to-finish in 10 days including all paint and varnish work so we could run a two week course. I then had to engineer the boats construction to fit the bill and thats where this came in.
To make the most of the plans, a kit should be 3D shaped utilising a CNC router. This delivers pre shaped and beveled frames, transom and a stem. Planking is also pre cut utilising CNC type locked scarf joints and pre cut plank Gerald’s. The boat is assembled on a CNC cut, slot together strong back assembly. All of this delivers a hull assembly that can realistically be fully built in just two days!
A comprehensive drawings file walks you through the build process step by step demonstrating handfuls of time saving methods along the way. This little plywood boat building plan delivers a practical, low cost yet pretty little boat that can easily be built with a relatively low skill set in just a couple of weeks.
Plans Include
Illustrated documents showing assembly of the parts and detailed instructions for the entire build process. STEP files for 3D CNC shaping of all boat components for a speedy build. DXF files are also supplied for a simpler 2D cutting process if required. Bevel angles are marked with simple lines as oppose to fully bevelled components.
File Access
Access to all building files is granted through The Dry Dock, the new online resource centre for our boat building plans. Upon purchasing the plans, files and all resources for the build can be accessed through this online portal. Up to date 3D models for construction can be assessed and measured through the online CAD viewer.
